This cell possesses a merotelically oriented kinetochore that is connected to opposite poles by microtubule bundles of comparable size.
As the cell enters anaphase, the merotelic kinetochore is pulled in opposite direction and, as a consequence, lags behind at the cell equator, producing what is known as anaphase lagging chromosome.
