I am interested in the evolution and ecology of squamate reptiles.  For the past decade or so my research has focused largely on embryos because of the ease of conducting eco-physiological studies without the confounding effects of behavior.  Major projects include studies on embryonic and maternal adaptations that facilitate the evolution of extended egg retention and viviparity, affects of incubation temperature on embryonic and neonatal phenotypes, and developmental arrest (embryonic diapause and cold torpor).
